I ran in my first 5K today!! It was an awesome experience and I finished in just about 26 minutes. The race was for the Wounded Warriors and they had simultaneous races in Taqaddum, Iraq and up in Virginia. They had a very emotional opening ceremony that really made you reflect on why this event was taking place. On an even higher note--the rest of the main body of 1st Battalion 6th Marines gets home today!! Yeah!! After a 9+ month deployment (which is NOT normal for an infantry Marine battalion) they deserve an amazing homecoming. I'm so happy for these guys! Last week I wasn't singing quite so many praises...I was really sick and had to really be careful with my situation. The kids knew something was wrong so they tried to "comfort" me :)
