Halloween 2010

We went and picked our pumpkins down at our favorite little fruit/veggie stand near our house. Since we were so deprived of fresh fruits and veggies for 3 years, we have become regulars down at "Karen's Farm".
My pumpkin:
After I picked my pumpkin and bringing it back for Michael to see:
Michael's warty pumpkin:
Her fruits and veggies are awesome!!!
She has a halter broken calf that she lets the little kids pet ("Tina"), she was dressed up as a tiger for Halloween :)
My pumpkin after carving:
Michael multi-tasking - talking on the phone and carving:
Bailey all up in our business trying to figure out how to get to the goo:
My finished pumpkin:
Michael's finished 'Kool-Aid Man' pumpkin!
We bought the little lights that change colors - our pumpkins all lit up!

Our tradition of eating candy and caramel apples on Halloween lives on!
YUM!!
Piggy getting into the spirit by playing with "Halle" on Halloween :P
Happy Halloween everyone!

Miramar Monster Dash 5k/10k

Michael signed up to run the 10k on a team from MALS-11 so I decided to tag along and run the 5k ... neither of us had run in over a month. We didn't do too bad - I finished in under 29 minutes and Michael placed 2nd in the men's division for the 10k! The weather was miserable ... we got SOAKED and it was COLD!!
Here we are after we both finished (I was lucky and got to wait around for about 30 minutes while the guys finished their race):
Michael and David finishing:
David and Michael afterwards:
After the rest of their team finished talking with one of the event coordinators about the difficulty of the track:
The MALS-11 team!
David finished 3rd and Michael finished 2nd! Michael said that David should have gotten 2nd though:
Glad we were active in the morning ... because we were lazy bums the rest of the day!!

Home Improvement

We finally got around to planting grass seed in the side yard for Pigdog. We had to take up 77 round stones and rake up all the bark that was already down, then we had to till up the ground in preparation of the seed. Here is Michael hand-tilling:
Laying the seed:
Covered with straw for germination. The dang straw cost $27 for a portion of a bale - robbery!! Hopefully the seed takes so we don't have to lay sod!
Little Dog got some new food - I tried to mix it in with the old ... but here she is picking out the old and only eating the new:
One of the many beautiful sunsets off of our deck ... love it!!

Catching Up

We really haven't been doing much the past few months - just settling into life as new homeowners!
Michael's mom came to visit us and we got to help celebrate her birthday a few days early!
We went down to Balboa Park and went through the Air and Space Museum - we even caught the fun 4-D movies they were playing!
I caught up with Wendi Jo - a college friend who I hadn't seen since 2002 (?)!!
Michael has been grilling like crazy on his new BBQ:
We caught the Miramar Air Show and saw the Blue Angels perform:
... and the kids LOVE the house! Some pics from the unpack:

(little dog found her carrier from when she was a puppy ... and she squeezed her big booty back into it - and then wouldn't get out!)
(Bailey LOVES the windows!)

(the fireplace is still a novelty for them)
